While the day is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, it has gained popularity in the U.S., especially in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Celebrations often include parades, music, traditional foods, and cultural events that highlight Mexican traditions. Today, Cinco de Mayo serves not only as a reminder of a pivotal moment in history but also as a festive occasion to honor Mexican culture and contributions.

May 8, 9, 10th - Katie CHEERS on West Elementary Archery Team @ NASP Eastern Nationals 2025 - The West Elementary Archery Team is excited to compete in the NASP Eastern Nationals, showcasing their skills alongside top young archers from the region. With the highest ranked elementary archer in the state on their roster, the team embodies hard work and dedication. As they prepare to represent their school and community, they are focused on honing their aim and building camaraderie. Ready to embrace the challenge, the West Elementary Archery Team looks forward to creating lasting memories at the nationals!

May 9th - Shirley Q. and Tania Martinez attend the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce; Community Luncheon - Join us for an insightful and energizing Community Luncheon Powering Progress: Alabama Chambers in Action, as we welcome Paige Hutto, a dynamic leader and advocate for Chambers across the state. With her extensive experience at the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (Alabama Chambers), Paige will share how Chambers across Alabama are driving progress, strengthening communities, and shaping the future of business. May 10th - Join our office for the Better Business Bureau - Shred Day 2025: Better Business Bureau of North Alabama has partnered with Family Security Credit Union to host Cullman Shred Day on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Vacant Lot Across from Hobby Lobby, Broadway Ave. SW, Cullman, AL 35055.

This event will give area residents the opportunity to help protect their identities and the environment in a quick and easy drive-thru set up.

May 26 - Memorial Day 2025: Our office will be closed in observance. Memorial Day is a deeply meaningful occasion for Americans, dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in military service. It serves as a poignant reminder of the costs of war and the courage of those who have defended the nation’s freedoms. Families visit cemeteries, placing flags and flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers, while communities hold parades and memorial services to celebrate their legacy. Although it marks the unofficial start of summer, the day encourages reflection on sacrifice, honor, and patriotism, fostering national pride and unity. Ultimately, Memorial Day reminds Americans to appreciate the freedoms they enjoy and to remember the heroes who fought to protect them.
